Once again, opening with complete honesty… I don’t get this. Sonic 4 Episode 1 was a very big success for the blue blur, but Generations was both financially and critically. It blew away our expectations and was far better than Sonic 4 Episode 1. It combined old school and new school in a way that was controlled and felt fresh. I know when you throw Episode 1 on a game that means that episode 2 is going to have to follow and Sega is smart to finish their game up in a way that will net them more profit. By breaking up what would normally be just a fifteen dollar arcade game into multiple episodes they’re able to take pressure off of themselves while also selling a product for more money than it might be worth. On PC Sonic Generations was less than 30 dollars at launch, but when Sonic 4 is done it will have cost more than that. Are you getting your money’s worth out of the content? That is of course up to the consumer on a case by case basis but we say no. But I’m still excited to see if they did anything interesting with Tails and Metal Sonic. A meme can pop onto the internet and stay around for years if it’s handled with care, grace and the proper amount of respect. The Arrow to the Knee meme that spawned out of Skyrim has played itself out so hard that it is now coming off like the “your mom” jokes that flooded my ears when I was in Jr High. It has become the most response among “nerds” when commenting on youtube, reddit, raptr and other forums. Even now with the Ocean Marketing meme in place, the Arrow to the Knee meme is still going strong. But we kind of want it to die. Below is a letter to Bethesda, makers of Skyrim where this horrible meme got it’s life. I suggest you read it, and then watch the video accompanying that expresses exactly how we feel. At E3 this year Sony shocked the audience by announcing that they were releasing a Playstation branded 3D display with glasses and a game for the low price of $500 dollars. Now that the display has been out for a while with little or no fanfare, we’ve had time to run it through it’s paces and see what the little TV is capable of. Is it the perfect 3D display for a small space, or another needless risk that sony has taken? Found out after the jump.
We love Freddie Wong here at The72Pins.com. Frankly, the man makes video game short films a reality on a nearly weekly basis and who doesn’t want that? If you haven’t subscribed to his videos I suggest you do so now ON HIS CHANNEL. This time around Freddie dives into the world of the possible Battlefield 4. He did it before with a fake trailer, but this time he’s doing co-op. This video by far has the biggest stunts, including falls from great heights, explosions and hand to hand combat. What do you think of his interpretation? Click to watch all the action.
Naughty Dog, one of Sony’s best exclusive developers decided to show us the first glimpse of their new game “The Last of Us”, at the VGAs tonight. The trailer which is entirely in engine and captured off a PS3 doesn’t really show how the game will play but it does look a hell of a lot like the Uncharted engine, which has us guessing it’s very much the same kind of game. We’d be happy with that as Uncharted 3 is on my list of top 5 games of the year. The trailer shows us a broken down urban environment, filled with decay, marauders, zombies and flooded out streets. The narration has us guessing that this is far in the future, as the teenaged female protagonist doesn’t know anything of the old world. Check out the trailer below.
Rochard is a special breed of puzzle platform that combines physics, platforming, gravity and brilliant design into a truly enjoyable experience. You play as John Rochard, a space miner who’s crew stumbles upon an ancient alien artifact. Now your evil boss is out to kill you, take this power artifact for himself and it’s up to you to stop him. All you have is your trusty G-Lifter, a device that can pick up boxes and throw them. Yes you have some other tools built into the G-Lifter, but it’s this device that drives the mechanics of the game and forces you to use your brain. Read on to find out why this is one of my favorite indie titles of the year.
Skyrim is the most engrossing game I have ever played. In the some forty plus hours I have spent in the northern mountains of Skyrim I have slain dragons, joined a thieves guild, become the arch-mage of a sorcerer’s college, found treasures hidden across an entire continent, killed bandits, become a werewolf, traveled to the great beyond, gotten drunk, breathed fire and did I mention I KILLED DRAGONS! With the shear wealth of content packed into Skyrim, I’m guessing most players simply won’t ever be able to experience it all, but it’s there for those that want it. It is a brilliant investment in entertainment AND YOU SHOULD BUY IT! Read why this is a game of the year contender after the break.
Let’s face it, Sonic the Hedgehog has had a really bad reputation since Sega stopped making consoles. Whether it’s the 2006 debacle, The “Shadow the Hedgehog” incident or the ill fated and still to be sequelized Mario & Sonic at the Olympics, Sonic has yet to have a great current gen title. Find out why Sonic Generations is a nearly perfect blend of new and old in this video review. Click to watch the video review.
11-1-11 is finally here and because of that we all can get our hands on the 3rd chapter in the Uncharted series. When the first game launched it had very little fanfare but became an instant hit. It’s collector’s edition was so hardcore you couldn’t get it in stores. The second one was a huge success and now with every game seeming to have a collector’s edition we have Drake’s Deception. Coming in a rather ornate box, filled with Drake’s ring, belt buckle, a steel case edition of the game and a statue… this is simply too good to pass up. Great as a starter kit for cosplay. Will you be picking it up? Watch the unboxing below and tell us what you think. Click for the video
Just got one of the best looking Collector’s Editions of all time, and I wanted to share it’s unboxing with you all. With this edition comes a statue made by Kotobukia, early acces to the Iceberg Lounge Challenge Map, early access to the Dark Knight Returns skin, Collectible Art Book, bonus DC Universe animated original movie “Batman: Gotham Knight”, digital download of “Batman: Arkham City The Album”. For whatever reason I got two codes for Catwoman and no code for my Dark Knight Returns skin. This kind of bothered me, but I’m looking into getting it replaced. Click for full unboxing video
