Review: The Amazing Spider-Man – The Game

by on July 23, 2012 >> PS3ReviewsXbox

The Amazing Spider-Man is a strange game in that it’s a sequel to a movie that many people wrote off simply because it’s a reboot of a film franchise that ended less than a decade ago. For that reason alone many of the people who might want to play this game, which is actually rather well done, may be turned off. The story picks up moments after the movie ends and right away spoils who lives an dies in the film as well as many other events pertaining to the characters and how they relate to each other. For that reason talking about the game’s story will be incredibly limited in this review. But to see if it’s worthy of adding to your collection, renting or passing over, keep reading.

Review: Piranha 3DD

by on June 1, 2012 >> MoviesReviews

There’s no way I can act like Piranha 3DD is a good movie, it’s not trying to be. Piranha 3DD is trying to be a fun movie and for a while it is. It gets in with a silly plot, some nudity, sex and violence, a dash of comedy and gets out just soon enough that you can’t complain about it’s length, lack of content or and cohesive plot. At just over 70 minutes, the movie never wears out it’s welcome, but it comes ever so close to that border. Read on for this incredibly short review for an incredibly short film.

Chronicle Director to Helm Fantastic Four Reboot

by on January 13, 2012 >> MoviesNewsRumor

Young director Josh Trank who directed the upcoming super hero film Chronicle is apparently up for the job of directing the Fantastic Four reboot. Variety is reporting that Trank sat down with 20th Century Fox several times but they are waiting to see how Chronicle fairs over it’s Super Bowl Sunday weekend release. If the film does well you can probably guess that they’ll hire the man. Josh previously directed a TV show called The Killpoint lead by John Leguizamo and Donnie Wahlberg. Yeah I don’t remember it either and it was just in 2007. But what about a cast? As a film franchise Fantastic Four did well but one of it’s biggest issues was the cast. A certain sci-fi TV star has shown interest in playing a super hero and mentioned playing Reed Richards aka Mister Fantastic. Read on after the break to find out who.

Red Tails is the Middle of a Trilogy

by on January 10, 2012 >> MoviesNewsVideos

George Lucas revealed on The Daily Show that if Red Tails does well opening weekend that he has a prequel and a sequel ready to got hat are both “better than this movie”. He also explained that he had a hard time getting the film a distributor because nobody thinks the film is marketable overseas and that it has an entirely black cast. If the movie had white leading actors he says that they’d have no problem pushing the movie forward into every theater in the world opening weekend. Sadly that isn’t the case and because this is one of the only all black lead cast action films ever made it’s taken twenty four years to make. I’ll be there opening weekend with my review ready to go by the afternoon. Hope it’s as good as he’s saying it is. Watch the interview after the break.

Wall-E & Prometheus Mash Up Proves To Be Cool

by on January 10, 2012 >> MoviesVideos

Last week a video parodying The Dark Knight Rises came online that was using the audio from TDKR but with visuals from The Lion King. Now the editor of that video, Brad Hansen has done it again, this time taking Disney/Pixar’s Wall-E and mashing it up with Prometheus which is our most anticipated movie of the year, even over Dark Knight Rises. There’s a really great blip at the end that shows the moment when Wall-e is watching Hello Dolly. Watch the video after the jump as well as a bad ass side by side comparison of the two trailers.

Rent The Innkeepers Starting December 30th

by on December 29, 2011 >> MoviesNews

One of of our favorite films from Fantastic Fest was Ti West’s The Innkeepers. I’ll be honest here… we did a huge disservice to this film by not putting it on our top 10 movies of the year list. Technically it hits theaters on February 3rd, but we saw it months ago and we were both raving about it. I actually drunkenly bothered Ti West while he was talking to Elijah Wood to tell him how much I enjoyed his film. While I’m sure the sentiment was felt, the obnoxious drunkenly slob that I was probably annoyed the man. That aside, I truly love this film, and now you can too. The Innkeepers is a perfect addition to your New Years Eve movie marathons, and will definitely be how I’m spending my night bringing in the new year… oh and playing Star Wars The Old Republic. Click to watch the trailer and hear why you should absolutely watch this movie.
