The less you know about this film the more enjoyable it will be. THIS IS A FACT! Right now I’ll tell you that I loved it and that you should see it. If you haven’t seen it yet, then DO NOT READ THIS! You gone? Good. If not then you saw the movie and WASN’T IT AWESOME?! Chronicle is a super hero origin story of sorts. It rests snugly in the found footage genre but is more closely related to something like District 9 where it bends the rules and creates clever ways to keep the characters in front of the action instead of behind the lens. This is a lesson the found footage genre can learn from. Read on to see why this is one of my favorite films in a long time.
Batman is a universally loved character and there are a lot of different ways he can be written. You can make the cartoony over the top Batman that you saw with Adam West and the currently running Batman: The Brave and the Bold. You can write him dark and serious like Batman: The Animated Series and Christopher Nolan’s films. There’s of course a mix in between but my favorite version of Batman is the one in the shadows, the detective, the true crime fighter.
We don’t usually post movie trailers here, but seeing how The Avengers is: 1) a massive comic book movie that we’re all hugely anticipating, 2) in both 3D and most likely D-Box (which means we’re almost definitely going to review it), and 3) not going to have a shitty licensed game from SEGA (lets hope it stays that way), it was just too hard to resist. We don’t get a whole lot of variety out of this one, but what’s here looks pretty good, and we do get our first glimpse of the new Hulk in live action.
Check it out for yourself (along with some badass footage of The Avengers game that was but never will be) and see what you think after the break.
Paranormal Activity 3 Trailer Misleading?
by Kent on October 2, 2011 >> Fantastic Fest • Movies • News
I’m one of the few hundred people in the world that’s seen Paranormal Activity 3 and I can tell you that when I watch the latest trailer for the film it’s barely recognizable. There are alternate takes, events that are completely removed from the film (like Kristi jumping off a balcony) and an entire plot device of a priest or spiritual expert coming into the home… and I’m wondering why. Read on to understand why I think things were removed and watch the full trailer.
Fantastic Fest 2011 Trailers: Round 2
by Matt on August 20, 2011 >> Fantastic Fest • Movies • Videos
Sadly, there aren’t trailers available for every single one of the Second Wave Fantastic Fest 2011 picks, but there are trailers for most of them, and that’s good enough in my book. I’ve attached 13 new trailers here, and they range from insane to incredible to a combination of the two. You should know by now that both Kent and I are pretty stoked for this year’s festival, and if you want to see a bunch of crazy-ass films, there’s really no better place to be. Likewise, if you want to see a bunch of crazy-ass trailers, look no further than this post.

Tekken 3D Trailer Isn’t Bad… Bonus 3D Movie? Very cool!
by Kent on August 17, 2011 >> 3DS • GamesCom • News • Videos

Looks like the first 3D movie confirmed for the 3DS is Tekkent Blood Vengeance… oh and it comes with this cool 3D Tekken game as well. We haven’t seen much of the Tekken 3D game except for a short blip during the E3 Nintendo press conference, but now we know that it’s going to be a content packed little cart. Click to see the full trailer for the combo bundle.

It was announced this week that on September 14th of 2012 there will be a new Resident Evil film heading into theaters. Now I know we’re a day late to this story, but that’s given me some perspective on this. Almost everyone online is complaining that a new Resident Evil film is coming, and for some reason they’re all determined to trash it before it comes out… and I don’t know why.

When I heard about the Bioshock movie and that Gore Verbinski, director of the Pirates of the Caribbean trilogy, was attached to direct, I got giddy. The man knows his story telling, knows his special effects and adapted a stupid, storyless ride into a three part epic trilogy with a great characters and memorable moments. Imagine what he could do with one of the better video games of this generation. But now it seems that Verbinski has run into a massive wall, and that wall is MONEY. Ah yes, the financial woes of the video game adaptation. Read on to find out why it’s such a problem
The brains behind the Dead Space franchise have been smart enough work on expanding the series beyond games, fleshing out it’s world with comics, smaller downloadable games, iPhone and iPad titles, as well as animated films. With the last Dead Space game came a movie expanding the story of the Ishimura and how the necromorph invasion started. It was a nice little prequel, decently animated, well acted, and legitimately scary at points. Now with Aftermath they’ve attempted to do the same thing, expanding the experience of Dead Space 2 and letting us now exactly how the events of the Sprawl’s invasion began.
