In this short film created by YouTuber RockyPlanetesimal, we see many of our favorite platforming characters doing the one thing they’re all designed to do… go right. It’s really that simple but the music, the way it’s filmed and edited, the showcasing of the small pixels blown up to massive proportions. It’s all beautiful and it might even say something about gaming and life. Or I could be looking into it too much. Click to watch.
I can’t stress enough how much I want this game to come to North America as soon as possible, and I think this video proves my point. It’s serious, violent, action packed, and infinitely more interesting than anything coming out about January’s Final Fantasy XIII-2. The game releases tomorrow (technically today) in Japan and while Famitsu magazine isn’t always the most reliable about scores, they did give it a 39 out of 40 (three 10s and a 9 from four reviewers) and after playing the demo myself, I’m not surprised one bit. This game is the best thing happening in the Final Fantasy universe right now other than Versus XIII (but who knows how long it will be until that’s released) and I really can’t wait to play it. Come on Square Enix, get this game over here now.

Have twelve minutes to watch some Japanese gameplay from Final Fantasy Type-0? How about three minutes? Square Enix is all about the options today, and being helpful to people with a busy schedule. Type-0 is just days away from release in Japan, with no plans for a North American release as of yet (sadly) but that doesn’t mean we can’t watch videos (or play the demo) ourselves. I loved the demo of this, so lets hope Square Enix gets some North American release plans ready ASAP.
Check out both videos after the break.
Take your pick: low res and pixelated or 720p anti-aliased stereoscopic 3D at 60 frames per second with trophies. Tough choice, right? Still, I do wish they had gone full out for 1080p. Check out all the various improvements in the video after the break.
Got an hour to kill? Want some more info on games such as Battlefield 3 and Mass Effect 3? Then check out (skim through) this presentation. We’ll have more videos from GamesCom coming soon.
[update] individual videos added for each game after the break.
Despite watching a bunch of videos of both cinematics and gameplay from the upcoming Final Fantasy Type-0, I still wasn’t quite sure what to expect. It’s a good thing that Square Enix decided to release this demo (which you can download right HERE or on the Japanese PSN) because now I know that the game is pretty damn awesome. Keep reading to find out why.
This is a cool video overview that shows every piece of Assassin’s Creed media in existence. From the first game to the novels, comic books, sequels, and spin-offs, this is every single thing that Assassin’s Creed has to offer to date. It’s definitely an interesting look, especially if you’ve only ever played the games. Check it out!
The demo will be available for free August 11th on the Japanese PSN and on the official Final Fantasy Type-0 site. People who play the demo will unlock the above clothing for use in the full game (although this will only apply to the Japanese version unless an English demo is released as well). I’ll definitely be playing this and giving you my thoughts on it shortly after. Time to dust off the old PSP and give it some fun.

Word comes from Famitsu magazine (via andriasang.com that the “Natsubi” gameplay demo that was playable at a Japanese event a few weeks ago will be released for download as well. Sadly, they didn’t say when the demo would be coming, but since Final Fantasy Type-0 is by far my most anticipated Square Enix title (that actually has a near future release date – I’m looking at you Versus XIII) you can bet I’ll play it and give my impressions as soon as it hits the PSN. The downloadable demo is reported to have a few adjustments and changes since it was last playable, but what exactly those changes are is unknown.
If you want to see the demo, you can check out a gameplay video after the break.
To be honest, up until now, nothing that I’ve seen from Anarchy Reigns even suggested that it would have a story, much less one that might be interesting. This trailer suggests both of those things, and I approve. Looks pretty interesting, and it’s really nice to see all these characters in crisp HD.
